Sensitive Community-Based Ownership

The Cornerstone is being developed and will be owned and operated on a not-for-profit basis by The Cornerstone Housing Corporation, a non-share capital Manitoba housing company incorporated separately by the members of ARCIA Inc. (Association of Reformed Christians In Action). ARCIA Inc. consists of members of four Reformed Christian churches located in north-east Winnipeg. ARCIA Inc. is a grass roots organization with a network of contacts and community supports and has a proven track record in client service and community development.

The Cornerstone is an aging-in-place facility that provides housing for both active, independent seniors and seniors that require assistance with day-to-day living. The goal of The Cornerstone is to provide quality, comfortable, healthy, safe and environmentally responsible housing and services for those in their retirement years.

The Cornerstone is being architecturally designed to produce a quality living environment capable of responding to the desires and needs of older adults. The facilities are separated into “Independent Living” and “Assisted Living” areas, and joined by a common “Downtown” where all residents can interact as a community.
